Indigo’s Sec 2 IP English holiday programme runs from 8 to 13 September 2026 in three separate tracks rather than one class. Every student is placed in the track that matches the component their own Integrated Programme school assesses at Secondary 2 — because IP schools in Singapore do not share a common English syllabus.
IP schools don’t sit a common Sec 2 English paper. So we don’t run a common Sec 2 English class.
19 IP schools mapped | 3 tracks | 18 slots · 6 centres | Running since 2024
Through some combination of these three components. Which one dominates in a given term is a school-level decision — and it is the difference between a useful holiday week and a wasted one.
Close reading and analytical response to unseen text. Marks come from writing about effect, not retelling content.
Building a line of argument and holding it under time, with evidence that supports the claim and a counter-argument that survives.
Purpose, audience and register. Quietly the most losable component, because it is assumed rather than taught.
There is a second complication. For most of Terms 1 and 2, IP schools assess English through alternative assessment — projects, presentations and portfolio work. Those marks reward different things, so a strong first half of the year does not reliably predict how a student performs on a full paper. The year-end assessment usually is a full paper.
We hold the mapping. Tell us the school and we’ll tell you which component is being assessed this term. Check your school.

Nineteen. If your school is here, we already know what it assesses at Secondary 2 and which September track applies.
Not listed? Send us the school anyway — we add to the mapping as families join.
We introduced differentiated S2 IP tracks in 2024 and have run them every school holiday since — one week in March, four weeks in June, one week in September. The mapping is re-checked each cycle.
Eighteen slots across six centres in a single week, so a family in the east and a family in the west can both take the right track rather than the convenient one.

Our IP students carry the same analytical writing skills into General Paper. We have taught GP since 2011, so Secondary 2 is not treated as an isolated year.
It is Indigo’s Secondary 2 IP English holiday programme, run as three separate tracks instead of one class. Students are placed in the track that matches the component their own Integrated Programme school assesses that term, so holiday time is spent on the paper they will actually sit.
Because IP schools do not sit a common Secondary 2 English paper. Each Integrated Programme school sets its own assessment, so one school may test functional writing in a term while another tests argumentative essay or Language Arts.
Contact us with the school name and we will send the schedule that applies to it. We hold a mapping of Singapore’s IP schools to the component each one assesses at Secondary 2, so an enrolment officer can confirm the track and the slots that run it.
Because the slots differ by track, and the right track depends on the school. Publishing one full grid invites students to book into the wrong group, so we send the slots that apply once we know the school.
Alternative assessment is coursework-style assessment used in place of exam papers, such as projects, presentations, portfolio pieces and group tasks. Most IP schools lean on it heavily for English in Terms 1 and 2, which is why strong marks in the first half of the year do not reliably predict performance on a full paper.
Often yes, because the first half of the IP year tells you very little. Most IP schools assess English largely through alternative assessment in Terms 1 and 2, which rewards different things and makes it hard to read whether a student can hold up under exam conditions. The year-end assessment is usually a full exam-type paper, and that is what these classes are built for.
It is different rather than simply harder. IP English is not bound to the national syllabus, so each school sets its own components and mark schemes, and analytical writing on unseen text carries more weight than at O-Level. That variation between schools is why one Secondary 2 English class cannot serve every IP student.
Tell us the school. We’ll confirm the track, send the slots that run it, and arrange a trial.
Take a trial class and see how Indigo tutors and study materials engage students to learn more, do better, and go further.
We encourage parents of children taking trial classes to drop by. Talk to us about how we can help improve grades, our programmes and pedagogy, and we’ll fill you in on upcoming special events such as seminars and lunchtime talks.
